Description
The Congo has been a prolific producer of Malachite specimens throughout the decades, producing some superb examples of collector grade Malachite specimens. The Region of Congo is infused richly with different copper deposits that stretch along the Copper belt that runs between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia. The specimens that have trickled out of the Congolese mines have shown a variety of growth habits, ranging from masses of botryoidal bubbles to captivating towers of malachite stalactites to lustrous, velvety acicular crystals. The range of colors and hues of greens that occur within malachite is incredible. Colors can range from a sea foam mint to shamrock green to a rich forest green. The malachite specimens are usually very lustrous. Some pieces display a druzy sparkle that scintillates with movement, while others have a stunning velvety satin luster that creates the cat's eye effect with movement. Very bright forest green sparkly botryoidal/spherical malachite crystals on matrix. It is very difficult to convey in our pictures how bright and lustrous these crystals of malachite really are. A very nice addition to any collection. The piece is 6.0 by 4.5 by 2.7 cm's in size.
